Objectives

The majority of consultations, tenders and new industrial programs include Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) / Engineering Support (ES) clauses (ILS) / Engineering Support (SE) clauses expressed in terms of in terms of performance of Reliability, Availability and services/products associated with the operational context in which the system will be deployed, for example, Cost of Ownership contracts or LCC contracts; Maintenance in Operational Condition (MOC) contracts.

At the end of the training, the trainee will:
Have sufficient knowledge to draft and evaluate the associated ILS/ASL performance clauses.

Program

Day 1
This training module is based on concrete and interactive examples with the trainees.
It focuses on the main evaluation components

Introduction

  • Introduction to ILS/LSA/MOC
  • Norms and standards (ECSS, MIL STD, DEF STAN, NF, EN)
  • Maintenance concept
  • Support concept
  • Life cycle (System/Support)
  • ILS management: coordination of ILS activities, link with other concerned actors, ILS Plan, Training Plan Documentation, Plan, Operational and Maintenance Plan, Configuration Management Plan, …

Systems Engineering

  • Systems architecture and ILS activities
  • ILS/LSA & RAMS performance
  • The V&V process

Performance Reliability & Testability (MTBF, MTTF)

  • RAMS studies, FMECA and its use for maintenance engineering
  • Reliability / maintainability indicators: MTBF, MTTR,MUT, MDT,
  • How to deal with NFF…

Support Engineering / Maintainability

  • Maintenance tasks (Scheduled, unscheduled)
  • Maintenance plan
  • Testability assessment
  • Influence of maintainability on the components of maintenance: operating cost and concept of maintenance
  • Software maintenance
  • Influence of human factors (maintenance procedure follow-up / human maintenance processes / human errors)
  • Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) concept

Day 2

Logistics Support Analysis (LSA)

  • Logistic tree structure
  • Tools, standards (BASL)
  • LSA components (TAT logistics, MTTR, spares/stock)
  • Impact of obsolescence
  • Elements of a Total Cost of Ownership model (TCO or LCC)
  • LORA study

Availability and REX

  • Availability assessment (inherent)
  • Influence of experience feedback and capitalization of experience in operational/in-service reliability

Logistic support elements (ILS elements)

  • Technical documentation (applicable standards)
  • Spare parts (evaluation principle)
  • Packaging, transport (PHS&T function)
  • Training of maintenance operators (evaluation of the need)
  • Technical assistance (contractual approach)
  • Configuration management.
